Can An X13 Controller Be Repaired

Possible X13 motor failure and best replacement
I have a 3 twelvemonth erstwhile Comfort Maker Heat Pump with an X13 blower motor. I just got a call from my girl that the unit is non working and it is 88* upstairs. The unit is not blowing whatsoever air fifty-fifty in the fan position on the thermostat. I suspect that the motor has failed.
I will effort and get a tech out in the next day or so to diagnose and repair. The good news is the motor is under warranty, the bad news is labor is not covered. the other bad news with the heat information technology may be a while earlier anyone tin show upward and depending on parts availability who knows..
Sorry I can't requite any more details on the equipment merely I am 5 hours from her.
I do take fourth dimension for a proper repair every bit she can sleep down stairs which is on a split unit.
At that place have been several threads about these motors failing hither and I know my neighbor had to accept 1 replaced in the bound when his business firm turned 3 years sometime.
Is at that place a basic problem with these motors? Is there a better replacement than the OEM device.

The service tech left a curt time ago and confirmed that the motor had failed. ( Bless him working in the attic on a day when the sun was shinning and information technology was 98* outdoors!!! ).
It is an x-xiii motor in a Comfortmaker/ICP AHU. He said that his company found 3 of them so far this calendar week that failed. The motor is less than 5 years old then covered under warranty, but labor to replace is not so I am out that cost. Motors are backordered with a 5 day lead time I am told.
Since this company has replaced 3 this week and several neighbors accept had problems with this motor over the by year it seems like in that location is aa major trouble hither. The obvious question: is there a think on them? Is Comfortmaker offering whatsoever aid on the labor to repair? model number looks like it is FEM4P1800a1 from the repair ticket.

motors fail at bad times, doing service we see many calls a day/calendar week. they are honoring warranty, free motor if under 5 yrs.

Other than ane that had a bearing making noise, I still oasis't constitute an X13 motor bad.
Dirty ability and restrictive duct systems/filters are the principal killers of them IMO.

Good indicate Mark. Makes you wonder nigh duct static when in that location's several failures in the same neighborhood.

nosotros accept replaced a crap load of the x13 motors . All brands utilise the aforementioned motor just programmed unlike ,

If I remember, a few years agone there were some bad X-13 motors... Maybe there were a few that lasted longer than the others.
HVAC equipment, unfortunately, is VERY price competitive... When cost is the main cistron, quality usually goes downwards.
In the last decade, I recall: one make had exploding blower wheels, another had blower housings made of plastic which shattered, another had circuit boards that failed, another had bad compressors, some other had bad gas valves, some other had bad conventional motors... The point is; this is non new. When the purchasing agent Simply looks at price... well... one gets what they pay for.
When we as consumers start ownership quality rather than toll (one does not get both), these failures will be less common.

Thanks for the advice on the extended labor warranty.
If you install a PSC motor tin can information technology be setup to run on dual speed? Similar 450CFM for cooling/heatpump operation and 600 CFM for when HP + Resistance heat are both on?

Failure to exercise this can/volition result in excess static and a brusk motor life.

I will inquire him to verify the speed when he replaces it, parts are on five day back order.
It probably was set at correct speed equally the cut sheet for that model shows a 600 CFM rated air flow. Information technology is a one.5T unit with 5kW aux heat. But I will have him double bank check.
